Privacy Policy
Effective: 16 July 2026
This policy explains what Refuelr accesses, collects, uses, shares, retains, and deletes, when data is used for tracking, and your choices.
Third-party content and attributions
Refuelr contains, shows, or accesses third-party content and services. This includes map data from OpenStreetMap contributors, official fuel price data published under the UK Open Government Licence v3.0, app store payment and subscription systems, and third-party services such as Firebase, RevenueCat, and Google Mobile Ads.
- OpenStreetMap - map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL).
- UK fuel price data - official fuel price information is shown under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
- Brand names and logos - station and supplier names, logos, and marks remain the property of their respective owners and are used only to identify relevant businesses or services.
What we collect
- Name and Email Address for account creation and sign-in.
- Approximate and Precise Location to find nearby stations, identify an area, and support route-based features.
- Search History (for example, searched places, postcodes or Eircodes, saved routes, route endpoints, search radius, and related route metadata) to provide core app features across devices when you are signed in.
- User ID (for example Firebase UID) to operate authentication, data sync, and subscriptions.
- Device ID (for example advertising identifier and push token) for advertising, analytics, and push delivery.
- Purchase History (subscription/entitlement status) to enable paid features.
- Community Contributions (for example, fuel or heating-oil price, station or supplier, area code, date, confirmations, and reports) to operate community price features and prevent abuse.
- Product Interaction data to understand feature usage and improve app reliability.
- Advertising Data (for example ad impressions/clicks and measurement signals) for ad serving and ad performance measurement.
- Crash Data and Performance Data to diagnose and fix technical issues.
Location data
Refuelr requests location permission at runtime and accesses location only while the app is open. Refuelr does not request background location.
Your approximate or precise coordinates are sent securely to Refuelr's Firebase Cloud Functions to find nearby stations. When you request a route, route start and destination coordinates are sent to Refuelr's Firebase Cloud Functions and the configured routing provider. When you ask Refuelr to identify your current area or address, coordinates may be sent to OpenStreetMap Nominatim or another displayed location-search provider. Location is used for these app features, not solely for advertising or analytics.
How we use your data
We use the data above for the following purposes, depending on data type: app functionality, analytics, and (where applicable) third-party advertising. We do not sell personal data to data brokers.
- App Functionality: authentication, saved routes, subscriptions, security checks, and notifications.
- Analytics: understanding usage patterns, app quality, and performance.
- Third-Party Advertising: showing ads and measuring ad effectiveness for non-premium users.
Tracking and advertising
On iOS, Refuelr includes Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission prompt. If you allow tracking, advertising-related data (including certain device identifiers and ad measurement signals) may be used by advertising partners to provide and measure ads.
If you do not allow tracking, Refuelr will continue to function, but ad personalisation and ad measurement may be limited.
User privacy choices
- iOS tracking permission: Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Manage notification permissions in device settings.
- You can delete your Refuelr account in the app at Manage account > Delete account, or read the full process on the account deletion page.
- If available in your region, use platform controls such as Limit Ad Tracking / personalised ads controls.
Third-party services
Refuelr uses third-party processors that may handle data described in this policy:
- Firebase and Google Cloud - authentication, app integrity, database, cloud functions, messaging, remote configuration, and app analytics/diagnostics.
- RevenueCat, Apple, and Google Play - purchase processing, receipts, subscription status, and entitlement tracking.
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) - ad delivery and ad measurement for non-premium users.
- OpenStreetMap, Nominatim, Photon, postcodes.io, and the configured routing provider - maps, place search, reverse geocoding, postcode lookup, and route calculation.
Data transmitted by Refuelr is sent using encrypted HTTPS connections. These providers process data under their own privacy terms and our service arrangements.
Community submissions
When you submit fuel or oil price information to Refuelr, that content may be reviewed, stored, and displayed to other users as part of the app experience. We may remove submissions that are inaccurate, abusive, infringing, misleading, or otherwise inconsistent with our terms or legal obligations.
Subscriptions & payments
Subscriptions are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). Refuelr does not directly collect payment card numbers. Refunds are managed by the relevant app store.
Data retention
We retain account-backed data while your account is active. Anti-abuse usage records normally expire within 90 days. Shared route results may remain in an unlinked cache for up to 7 days. Analytics, advertising, diagnostic, and operational records follow the configured retention periods of the relevant providers and may be retained for a limited period necessary for security and reliability.
Account and data deletion
You can permanently delete your account inside Refuelr at Manage account > Delete account, or follow the instructions on the account deletion page. Deletion removes your Firebase account, RevenueCat customer, profile, saved routes, favourites, notification token, alerts, usage records, community contributions, and your user ID from confirmations or reports.
Deleting your account does not cancel an active store subscription. Apple or Google Play may retain transaction records where required for billing, fraud prevention, tax, or legal compliance.
International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international data transfers.
Your rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at refuelr@outlook.com.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top will always reflect the latest revision.
